WHAT IS “OTHER THAN
STANDARD” WINE, ANYWAY?

Some of our specialty wines have the unusual statement “Other Than Standard” on the label. For the curious: as it applies to our wines, it simply means while we made something fantastic, in the world of regulations it does not fit into any specific “standard” wine category based on how we crafted it. Not surprising, as it was never our goal to fit in and do what everyone else already does, anyway.

Most likely you’ll see this statement on some of our banana wines or on wines that have a blend of our banana juice in them. A fresh banana does not give up its flavorful juice easily. Without giving away any secrets, the process involves preparing a banana for wine much like grapes might be prepared for grape wine. The end result is an “other than standard” label and damn tasty wine.

Speaking of which, we plan on releasing a few different types of banana wine as well, so be on the lookout for more to come! Our small family winery was founded on the desire to be anything other than standard. We hope you will enjoy our wines as much as we enjoy making them for you.
